The first
Thanksgiving feast took place in 1621.
It marked a momentous occasion as one of the few friendships between
European settlers and Native Americans, who usually came into conflict due to
mutually exclusive goals of settling the American continent. However, this blog isn’t about pilgrims and
Native Americans, it is about two other groups: Evangelicals and Mormons.
Unlike
English settlers and Native Americans, Mormons and Evangelicals actually have a
mutually inclusive goal: eternal life for ourselves and for each other. However, since we each believe that only our
own methods are effective for obtaining eternal life, we often come into
conflict.
Is there
a way for us to put aside our differences and get along, despite our different
perspectives?
I will soon be coauthoring a blog with my Protestant friend, Neil Hess and discussing some
of the challenges our groups face and some ways to move past them.
Has this other blog started yet? thanks
